Westphalia ends foal auction season with success

The proven blood of Vitalis still in great demand

Münster: In the last Westphalian foal auction of 2023, 26 young prospects were up for sale. Almost three-quarters of the foals on offer found a new owner in the OnLive auction. The proven blood of Vitalis was particularly sought after. With a hammer price of 37,000 euros, the head number 1 Vis à Vis by Vaderland/Ampere advanced to the highest priced foal.

With an OnLive auction, the Westphalian Studbook concluded the 2023 foal auction season this evening. As part of the German Amateur Championships in Münster-Handorf, 26 foals were up for sale. At an average price of 11,518 euros, 19 of the foals on offer changed hands.

The first foal on the track was the top-priced foal. The son of Vaderland/Ampere was bred by Noortje Radstake from the Netherlands. His full sister was sold exactly one year ago at the same place with the head number 1 at this foal auction. Vis à Vis descents from the dam line of the S***-successful Donner Hit OLD, as well as the stallions Welt Hit I to IV. The young colt had aroused the interest of numerous customers. The bidding quickly reached 20,000 Euros. From then on, customers from the Netherlands and the Czech Republic fought online for the winning bid. With the 50th bid, auctioneer Thomas Münch hit his auction hammer on the desk. At the hammer price of 37,000 euros, the bay will travel to the Czech Republic.

Another young dressage star also broke the 30,000 euro mark. Viviano Gold also carries the proven Vitalis bloodline through his sire. Va Bene is a son of Veneno, who descends from Vitalis. Philipp Welsing, Borken, had paired his state premium prospect mare Fürstin Cissy by Fürst Magic to the stallion of the Wadenspanner station. A firework of bids ignited as the young colt with head number 15 entered the arena. Bids quickly flew in online and on site. The winning bid was finally placed in favor of customers on site at the price of 33,333 euros.

The most expensive foal with a jumping pedigree was head number 18. Unity (breeder: B.J.M. Wezenberg, Nottuln) is a daughter of United Touch S, who is currently highly successful with Richard Vogel. She is a half-sister to the licensed and CSIYH* winner Claude Monet. Her dam Falonie RWL was highly placed in medium level show jumping competitions. A performance pedigree that raises great hopes for this pretty filly. The winning bid was 16,500 Euros to customers who had called in by phone. Another jumping foal cracked the 10,000 euro mark. Emeron by Emerald van het Ruytershof is the sire of Elektra with head number 25 (breeder: Almut Blaschke, Hörstel; exhibitor: Christian Graab, Switzerland). The dam of this beautiful filly is the performance mare Cirone by Conet Obolensky. She has placed highly in advanced ***-level show jumping competitions. At 14,500 Euros, the winning bid was on the phone.
